Our First Year

First off, the wedding

It cost an arm, a leg, and a kneecap. But it was one of the most magical days of our lives. Filled with people from all facets of our lives, our intimate, yet extravagant, Mediterranean wedding was one to remember forever. There were fireworks in the air and in our hearts.

Then, came the honeymoon

Literally the next morning we left Malta and continued our never-ending travels. Our first destination was beautiful Puglia, where we had the song “The Feels” by Labrinth on repeat. We jumped over rocks into fields and ate as many free, sweet figs as we humanly could! I like to think of this as the last time we both had only love for each other…

“Enceinte”

From Puglia we took a quick flight to Nice, where we planned to stay in Cannes in the south of France for a week. The long and short of it… we loved Cannes, but it was super overpriced so we drove to Monaco on a whim. Yep, that pretty much sums up our amazingly spontaneous life.

But Monaco is where things got interesting. Liz started acting odd on September 13th… asking for burgers at 8am. At first, I thought it was from (quite literally) starving herself to fit into her dream wedding dress.
Suddenly something clicked in my head.. could it be? I quickly rushed to the pharmacy and bought three pregnancy tests. All three said “Enciente” which, yep, translates to “pregnant”. And just like that, our love for two, became love for three.

The first trimester

Scared, happy, excited, terrified. Will we be good parents? Will it be a boy or girl? The first trimester threw us on a whirlwind of emotions. From finding out it was going to be a girl.. and having a panic attack about that… to experiencing the biggest scare of our lives, when we thought we had lost our baby, which luckily was just a low placenta. Mom had a very hard few first months.. only able to eat rice, crackers, and the occasional chicken cutlet.

She has flippers!

We looked forward to our baby appointments a lot. How could we not when that was the only way we could see our little girl? She went from a tiny unrecognizable bean to a more formed figure with two flippers for hands! Mom used to have orange juice in the morning to make sure you were nice and energetic during our doctor visits.

Hearing her heartbeats was all I ever cared about. Making sure she was healthy. Who would have thought we could already be so protective?

May 26, 2024

After being 5 days overdue, the day that would change our lives, forever, finally came. During the wee hours of the morning, Miranda Stella Theuma joined us and made us a family. I can’t quite describe the feeling - but if I had to, I’d say the experience was one I’ll never forget. That day, I went from being Corel to “dad”. From getting nauseous at seeing blood on TV, to grabbing courtside seats to all of the action in that delivery room.

Born weighing exactly 9lbs, we loved every ounce of you.

Losing and Gaining

The first few weeks were rough.

Sleep 0/10.
Food 2/10.
Arguments 10/10.

But the worst part of all, was when we were told that you weren’t eating enough - resulting in needing photo therapy - which broke our hearts. Luckily it only took 20 hours, and us sharing a twin hospital bed for you to get better. PTSD was real though… and we kept weighing you to ensure you were gaining the proper weight (whatever that means), every night for the first three months!

One year anniversary

Not the craziest of celebrations with a staycation. But all that matter is that we’re all together. But soon… very soon… we’ll be continuing our never-ending travels - sharing with you our obsession with different cultures, foods, and most importantly love for one other.
